If you are seeing a Fongo Connection Failed message when launching Fongo Mobile, please check the following possible reasons.
Try Basic Troubleshooting Settings
From the Side Menu:
- Tap Account
- Tap Settings
- Under Troubleshooting, try enabling or disabling each of these settings ONE at a time.
Additional Solutions
- Try logging out of the app and then log back in, or try rebooting your phone.
- You are using an unauthorized version of the app which was not downloaded from Apple App Store or Google Play.
- You are connected to a public Wi-Fi (Tim Hortons, McDonalds, etc.) in which you have not agreed to the terms of service, open a web browser on your phone and try to browse.
- Some public Wi-Fi and corporate Wi-Fi networks do block SIP communications and as a result, Fongo will not connect.
- You may be able to avoid this entirely by enabling Fongo Alternate Connection in the app's settings, or using a VPN service such as TunnelBear (free) or NordVPN.
- Some VPN services restrict VoIP traffic - please try using a different VPN or disabling your VPN.
- We have found that some Internet Service Providers and Mobile Carriers in certain parts of the world such as the Middle East, Northern Africa, and Central Europe are blocking SIP/VoIP communications and as a result, Fongo will not connect.
- You may be able to avoid this entirely by enabling Fongo Alternate Connection in the app's settings, or using a VPN service such as TunnelBear (free) or NordVPN.
- You may not have an internet connection, please try loading a web page on your device, or other apps on your device to ensure your data connection is currently active.
- The Wi-Fi router that you are connected to may have a setting called SIP-ALG enabled. Disable this setting if you can. Alternatively, if you cannot find the SIP ALG setting, you can log in to your Wi-Fi router's web page and enable port forwarding on ports 5060 UDP and 13000 UDP. You can also circumvent this setting by enabling Fongo Alternate Connection in the app's settings, or using a VPN service such as TunnelBear (free) or NordVPN.
- We may be experiencing a service outage, please check http://status.fongo.com for updates.
