Configuring Voicemail Storage
There are 3 options for storing voicemails with your Fongo Home Phone service:
- Voicemails saved on your device's answering machine
- Voicemails saved in the Fongo Cloud
- Voicemail box is disabled
1. Voicemails Saved on Your Device's Answering Machine
If your home phone device has its own built-in answering machine for voicemail messages, simply ensure that the "rings before voicemail" setting on your device's answering machine is LESS than the Fongo Voicemail setting. Here's how:
- Investigate you device's manual to figure out how to edit your ring count setting
- Set your desired number of rings
- Log in to your Fongo Home Phone account here
- Enter the "Voicemail & Texts Settings" area
- Set the "Rings Before Voicemail" value to its highest setting
- Click "Update" for your settings to be saved
- You may need to power-cycle your adapter for it to pick up this change
*All other settings and features regarding voicemail will need to be setup on your device, since Fongo's voicemail is not being used.
2. Voicemails Saved in the Fongo Cloud
(Voicemails saved in the cloud will be automatically deleted after 10 days)
Ensure that the "rings before voicemail" setting on your device's answering machine is GREATER than the Fongo Voicemail setting. Here's how:
- Investigate you device's manual to figure out how to edit your ring count setting
- Set the device's ring count to its maximum setting
- Log in to your Fongo Home Phone account here
- Enter the "Voicemail & Texts Settings" area
- Set the "Rings Before Voicemail" value to your desired ring count
- Click "Update" for your settings to be saved
- You may need to power-cycle your adapter for it to pick up this change
- Listen to your voicemail messages by dialing *98 on your home phone device
*With Fongo's voicemail enabled, you will be able to use all of the following features/settings
3. Voicemail box is disabled
- Log in to your Fongo Home Phone account here
- Enter the "Voicemail & Texts Settings" area
- Under Voicemail, select Disable from the dropdown
Note: You will still be able to dial your voicemail box. This will only prevent incoming callers from reaching your voicemail box. Text-to-email messages will continue to function.
