Default Caller ID
When calling out using the mobile app, you can always choose which number to call out from.
When calling out from a Pro Device, the primary number on your account will always be the default caller ID shown to your recipient. The primary number on your account is always set to the free number you chose during sign up.
To change the primary number on your account, you will need to tell our support team to switch the primary number to one of your other numbers.
Note: The primary number can only be switched to a local, ported-in number (not toll-free)
Name Caller ID
When calling out from your Fongo Works business phone number, the name that shows up on your recipient's phone will be the name of your business (unless you use the "hidden" option when calling out). You can edit your business name in your dashboard under "Account".
"My recipient's phone is not showing my business name when I call..."
Some providers don't provide Name caller-ID. They may say your plan includes caller-ID, but it is not necessarily Name caller-ID, it's just Number caller-ID.
"My recipient's phone is showing something other than my business name..."
They likely have your business number saved in contacts, so it is showing the contact name they gave your business.
Hide Caller ID
Fongo Works Mobile App
Dial the number you want to call or choose from contacts, then select the "hidden" option before placing the call.
Fongo Works Pro Devices
Dial *990 before the number you want to call.
Example: to call 226-336-6646, dial *990-226-336-6646
Choosing Your Caller ID Number
If your business has multiple phone numbers you can choose the specific number to show on the caller id by using the *99X prefix.
X represents the place value of the number in your list of numbers. Your numbers are in a list, ordered by numerical value.
For instance if you have three phone numbers
If you want the callee to see the 306-555-1234 you can prefix the call with *992 and then the number before you press call
If you want the callee to see the 204-555-4321 you can prefix the call with *991 and then the number before you press call
If you want the callee to see the 416-555-9876 you can prefix the call with *993 and then the number before you press call
Note: If you have a toll free number and try to call another toll free number using the selection method, your primary number will show to the other party.
