Block unwanted calls and texts

Fongo Mobile allows you block calls and texts from numbers through various methods. 

Notes:

  • At this time (due to a technical limitation), if the specific number that you blocked leaves you a voicemail, it will still arrive in your app. We are not able to prevent them from leaving a voicemail at this time.
  • We do not support the forwarding of spam text messages to 7726 (SPAM), as it is currently a technical limitation.

General Blocking Settings

  1. From the app's setting menu, select Account
  2. Select Settings
  3. Under Phone Service, select Blocked Numbers
  4. You can:
    1. Block Anonymous Calls prevents calls shown as "Unknown" or "Blocked"
    2. Block Non-Contact Calls prevents calls from numbers not saved in your contacts

Blocking and Unblocking Specific Numbers

1. Access Settings by choosing 'Account' from the app's main menu and then tap on 'Settings'

2. Under Phone Service, tap 'Blocked Numbers'

3. Tap 'Add A Number'

4. Enter the number you want to block, then tap block.

You can edit or unblock a number by tapping on one of the rows with a blocked number.

Blocking and Unblocking Numbers from Contact Details

Block or unblock specific numbers for your contacts through the Contact Detail screen.

1. Access 'Contacts' from the app's main menu

2. Tap the contact who's number you wish to block

3. Long press on the phone number that you wish to block and then release. (If you are using iOS with Voice Over, activate the row and then Tap-Tap-Hold-Release to show the popup menu)

4. A pop-up menu will appear that will include an option to block the number. Tap Block.

5. Once blocked, the specific number will be displayed with a blocked icon 🚫

Note: If you wish to unblock the number, follow the same procedure (the pop-up menu will display an 'Unblock' option).

Blocking and Unblocking Numbers from Call History

1. Access 'History' from the app's main menu

2. Tap on the caller you wish to block, this will expose a dark coloured row showing the duration of their recent calls

3. Long press on the call duration row (If you are using iOS with Voice Over on activate the row and then Tap-Tap-Hold-Release to show the popup menu)

4. A pop-up menu will appear that will include an option to block the number. Tap Block.

Note: If you wish to unblock the number, follow the same procedure (the pop-up menu will display an 'Unblock' option).

Blocking and Unblocking Numbers from Messaging

You can also choose to block or unblock specific numbers from a messaging conversation.

1. In the messaging conversation tap the actions button

2. A menu will appear that will include an option to block the number. Tap Block.

Note: If you wish to unblock the number follow the same procedure (the menu will display an 'Unblock' option.

If you are in a group conversation, tap the group members button in the place of the menu button, and each group member will have an option to block their number.
